The Gentle Dog Flea Support Protocol

A Botanical Flea Support System Designed for Dogs

Dogs and cats do not tolerate botanicals the same way.
Dogs are generally able to handle gentle topical botanicals much better, which allows us to support both the dog’s coat and their environment at the same time.

Instead of relying on harsh chemical treatments, this protocol focuses on helping the coat become less inviting to fleas, while also treating the spaces where fleas actually live.

Because fleas do not live primarily on your dog — they live in bedding, carpets, yards, porches, and resting areas — the goal is not simply to spray once, but to gently interrupt the flea life cycle from multiple directions.

This three-step system works together to reduce flea pressure while keeping your dog comfortable.

How the Dog Flea System Works

Step 1 — Pest Away Canine™ (Coat Support)

This is the coat support step.

Pest Away Canine is a gentle botanical mist designed for light application to your dog’s coat before outdoor activity. Plant hydrosols such as cedar, rosemary, and lemongrass help make the coat less attractive to fleas, mosquitoes, and other outdoor pests.

Because dogs tolerate topical botanicals well, this step allows us to support the coat directly while keeping skin comfortable.

A balanced coat and calmer skin can also help reduce scratching that attracts fleas.

Step 2 — That’s the Spot™ Hot Spot Mist (Skin Support)

Flea bites often trigger irritation, itching, and inflamed skin patches.
That’s the Spot™ helps calm irritated skin while supporting the natural healing process.

This soothing mist uses colloidal silver, aloe vera, and apple cider vinegar to help discourage bacteria and yeast while restoring balance to irritated skin.

Using this step helps reduce the scratching cycle that can make flea problems worse.

Step 3 — Canine Area Defense™ (Environmental Control)

This step treats the spaces where fleas actually live and reproduce.

Dog bedding, crates, carpets, porches, and resting areas are the primary breeding grounds for fleas. Canine Area Defense™ helps make these environments less inviting so fleas cannot easily establish.

This formula includes clove hydrosol for added environmental strength and is not intended for direct use on pets.

Always allow treated surfaces to dry before pets return.

Before You Start (Important)

For best results:

• Thoroughly vacuum floors, rugs, and dog resting areas
• Wash or clean dog bedding before treatment

Vacuuming removes flea eggs and larvae hiding deep in fibers and dramatically improves success.

After cleaning, apply the area spray immediately.

This step often makes the biggest difference in breaking the flea cycle.

Simple Use Routine

Day 1

• Vacuum floors, rugs, and resting areas
• Apply Pest Away Canine™ lightly to the coat
• Use That’s the Spot™ on irritated or bitten areas
• Spray Canine Area Defense™ on bedding and dog spaces (allow to dry)

Maintenance

During flea pressure:

• Apply Pest Away Canine™ before outdoor activity
• Use That’s the Spot™ on irritated areas as needed
• Treat bedding and resting areas with Canine Area Defense™ regularly
• Wash bedding weekly when possible

Consistency works better than heavy treatment.

What to Expect

This protocol is a support system, not a pesticide.

You may not see instant elimination. Instead, most owners notice:

• reduced scratching
• fewer new fleas appearing
• calmer skin and improved coat comfort
• gradual improvement within 1–2 weeks

Because fleas have a life cycle, steady use produces the best results.

When to Seek Veterinary Care

If your dog shows:

• open sores
• severe hair loss
• lethargy
• heavy flea infestation

please consult your veterinarian.

These products provide supportive care and can be used alongside veterinary treatment when needed.

Why This System Works

This protocol focuses on interrupting the flea habitat rather than overpowering the insect.

By supporting the coat, calming irritated skin, and treating the environment where fleas reproduce, the flea cycle can be gradually disrupted in a way that is gentle, practical, and sustainable for long-term care.
